The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. Exodus 12:13
Exodus.
When we think of Exodus, what comes to mind? Here is one thought that I found in my Thompson Chain Reference Bible* (Please note: These asterisks * lead to the reference material that I mostly study and read and enjoy. I encourage everyone to purchase one of these most amazing study bibles. My main translation is the New International Version. Thank you!)
In a condensed format we see that bondage, deliverance, and beginnings of the history of Israel on the way to Canaan, under the leadership of Moses.* This time period also covers the death of Joseph to the building of the first tabernacle. This part of the story is one of amazing grandeur! I was amazed at how God provided all the raw materials for this elaborate constructed creation. You’ll be amazed too!
One of the key thoughts is one of being taken out or delivered from captivity. As one is freed from slavery, our mind and emotions tend to get the best of us. Actually, after the deliverance jubilee will set in. This is just my view and more thoughts to consider.
Exodus From Bondage
The history of Israel includes the prophetic from God, saying that Israel, (or more specifically), Jacob’s family will move to Egypt and live in bondage after a period of time has past. Then God will deliver His people out of the captivity and bondage, Exodus, will occur! Thus Moses was planned from the beginning of his conception to deliver God’s people out of Egypt. As I write this out, I think of all the stories that I read and listened to as I was going through the third book of Moses, called Exodus. It feels like I could have been there! I have lived this time period in my imagination many times. I can feel the struggle, the victory and the Exodus.
How many times in your life have you read the book of Exodus? How many…?
The Pharaoh of Egypt said, “Go, worship the Lord your God,” then he said, “But just who will be going?” -Exodus 10:8
Deliverance Stands Out In Exodus
Why?
Why is it that for me I see this act of deliverance so clearly or so often in the book of Exodus? I think it is because of my own Exodus from drugs during the Viet Nam era war (“police action”). I was captured and led into captivity by the wrong people and my desire to escape. Exodus was my deliverance into the promised land of freedom in Christ! I was saved and set free in miracle fashion! I have been fully and completely delivered ever since. Plus I have been fully and completely saved all these years. I have lived in the land that Moses was leading the Israelites to… the land flowing with milk and honey… the promised land of Canaan.
I suppose another reason that I am drawn to this word, DELIVERANCE, is the varied definitions that are possible. Just think for a moment on the various renditions of this word that we find in the dictionary, the one I use nearly daily, also found in the theme of Exodus. Here I have placed the definition…
Deliverance: “To take to the proper place or recipient. To throw or hurl. To utter. To give birth to. To assist in giving birth. To give forth or produce. To set free. To produce what is expected, make good.” -The American Heritage Dictionary
Life Insurance – Is This Exodus?
There is another predominant thought that prevails throughout Exodus. That is a type of “Life Insurance”. As we read in our key text, Exodus 12:13. This text refers to also the blood of Christ! Can you see it? Did Jesus Christ provide to the born-again believer a type of “Life Insurance”? One that will provide an Exodus from our present life without Christ, into a new life of with Christ? It’s something to think about it! Exodus and all that God declares to us points toward the way and the truth.
When one thinks of Life Insurance it is possible to consider one’s personal affairs. Now, this is a subject type of Exodus from lack into plenty. When the people of Israel moved into the will of God they saw and received plenty. Prior to this they lived in lack, a type of poverty without recompense! However, God had a plan! Exodus is part two of His plan… Genesis was part one.

Exodus – The Glory of The Lord
And so Moses finished the work…
“Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled upon it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.”
“In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out – until the day it lifted. So the cloud of the Lord was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel during all their travels.”
…the scripture above finishes the Book of Exodus – Chapter 40 Verses 33-37
Thank you – Exodus
Thank you my friend for your time and attention. May whatever I wrote or spoke be a blessing in your life. If there was anything that bothered you or offended you and your own understanding or teaching of the Word of God, I deeply apologize. I write and speak as I currently know. As time evolves, so does knowledge and delivery.
May you my friend find comfort in God’s Word.
May you know that Jesus Christ is Lord.
May you come to your own Exodus in your own life.
May deliverance from bondage into freedom be real and forth coming in your life.
May you receive all the blessings God has in store for you.
May you be blessed!
In Jesus’ Name. Amen and amen.

This is one of those books in the Word that could be confusing if not looked at from a higher perspective. God has a plan!
