The Flock Shall Be Scattered

Episode 8 – Touching People For Heaven – Podcast Show – With Your Host Preacher John

Matthew 26:31 (KJV) Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

The Flock Shall Be Scattered

The Flock Shall Be Scattered – Matthew 26:31 – Monday Jan 14, 2019

Matthew 26:31 (KJV) Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

I just finished doing my school work for today. And this exercise, in the way we have our bible school set up, is really more amazing and fruitful than I ever imagined! Over the last several months I’ve just been playing around with it. That is not the way to get anything done!

If you remember in yesterday’s discourse / podcast, I talked about playing around when the boss leaves, (when I was a kid), and even still I struggle sometimes with just goofing around instead of doing my work. But for some reason, this new year, but actually it all started the first of December, I think, when this thrust of energy pushed me forward to get the job done.

I’m surrounded with God’s Word

So, since December 1, 2018, I’ve been working on the foundational part of our church. This is about the time that the Lord gave me this SwordSearcher Bible Software that I’m currently typing on. Each discourse is a chapter in a book that I’m attempting to write.

I praise God for this SwordSearcher! Because of this one tool I’ve been able to write like never before! You see, as I’m typing here, I’m surrounded with God’s Word! I mean, wherever I look, there is the Word of God!

“KEEP MOVING” … “NO WORRY”

So, anyways, back to whatever I was talking about! As you may have gotten from my other podcast, this year has a unique motto that is spurring me onwards… “KEEP MOVING” … “NO WORRY” …I probably say these words a dozen times a day! I just got to keep moving and no worry. That’s it!

As I’m going through the school work, I keep looking for a verse that I’m going to write, but it never revels itself until its time! Then, suddenly, the verse to write and memorize for the day appears! It’s just amazing, I love it! And that is the verse that I write my discourse on… so here it is…

Why a certain verse is highlighted

Matthew 26:31 (KJV) Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

I never really know why a certain verse is highlighted. But I don’t question the Spirit of God. Fore, I believe that the Holy Spirit is guiding me, just like the word says, (John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.) “…he will guide you into all truth” …isn’t that satisfying to know that you don’t have to know it all? Trust in the Holy Spirit and this is exactly what will happen to you! Beautiful, isn’t it?

Several parts

I think what I’m going to do is, break this verse into several parts, and briefly talk about each part…

So, here goes…

The Flock Shall Be Scattered
The Flock Shall Be Scattered – Matthew 26:31 – Monday Jan 14, 2019

Add yourself to my daily prayer

There’s a way to be included in my daily prayer. At the end of this discourse there’s an easy method to add yourself. This might be one more way that I can touch people for heaven. Having someone praying for you is a very helpful. God works through all kinds of people and things to bring about what he wants. He’s the boss!

Matthew 26:31

Then saith Jesus unto them,

This is like the phrase, ‘thus saith the Lord’, it’s in lots of places throughout the Old Testament, 437 times actually, but 0 in the New Testament. So, when I read these first five words, immediately I thought of thus saith the lord. In fact it’s how I was able to memorize this verse. Weird huh? You see, Jesus is speaking now, and Jesus was speaking in the Old Testament. I know that is difficult to grasp, but Jesus Christ is God… you know, God the Son! That is, if you have put your trust in Jesus to save you, which I sure hope, you made that life changing decision… from death unto life! But look also here that Jesus is talking to people, he’s not talking to angels or devils or his Father in heaven. Today, Jesus still speaks to his people! That is THE BEST thing about the Christian faith… because the Christians are the only sect that has a God that talks to them! (Think about that for awhile, my friend!)

All ye

I love this part…All is everyone of you! Ye is also everyone of you… all of you, not just a single person, but all, every last single one of you are tagged… you’re it! No one is going to escape what I’m about to say, according to Jesus, remember he’s the one talking. Interesting, how nobody is saying a word, nor are they interrupting him. I think Jesus has their attention! What do you think?

Matthew 26:31

shall be offended

When you see the word ‘shall’, this is a word that points directly to the people that are being addressed (sort of). Shall is different than the word ‘will’ which is what you find in other bibles. Let’s stay with the word ‘shall’ …next the ‘be’ …this becomes an absolute statement and not up for discussion. Be is what will occur, no matter what. That tiny word is very powerful. It’s also an explosive word sound. The letter ‘B’ is filled with power and explosiveness that delivers what it is intended to accomplish.

There is so much in the King James Bible that can be taught with amazing accuracy. This is why this bible is favored around the world for over 400 years and counting, also the number one printed book in the world! There I go again, wondering off, let’s get back here… the word ‘offended’ I talked at length about this word in another discourse / podcast. To be offended is to be “displeased” with …think about that.

To be displeased with the Lord Jesus Christ who, at this time of the story, was going to die for our sins and be resurrected and ascend back into heaven and then intercede on our behalf until the time has come full for him to return for his church! How can anyone be ‘displeased’ or ‘offended’ for this selfless act of laying down one’s life for another… because you have to understand, that Jesus never ever sinned! Even the thief on the cross that hung next to him said, Luke 23:43 (KJV) And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Jesus is Wonderful! Thank you Jesus!

Matthew 26:31

because of me

When we see the word ‘because’ we know that it refers back to the person speaking, or thing that is causing something. This is pointing directly to Jesus, ‘because’ is the reason why, and it combines thoughts together so that there is a connected story. Here Jesus is saying something important… not just for the disciples, no, but for and to everyone of us, today! The word because is also pointing to the word ‘me’ …here is Jesus talking about what is going to happen. Jesus is the person that is going to offend them. The disciples and whoever else is in their shoes, sort of speak, is going to be affected because of the person, Jesus! Are you offended because of Jesus?

this night:

What I like about these two words is it’s exactness. The words, ‘this night’ is not talking about some made up story telling that may or may not happen. No, it will happen ‘this night’. In so many places of the bible there is not always an exact time stamp on the event. Usually, the time spoken of is abstract and requires the work of the Holy Spirit to discern the times or seasons of the discussed event. But not here! Nope, it will happen… ‘this night’! Cool huh?

Matthew 26:31

for it is written,

Don’t you just love it that Jesus is constantly referring to Scripture? This has to tell us that Jesus knew the words of the Law, and the Prophets, and the Writings. Did Jesus read the Torah? Did Jesus study the Law and the Prophets and the Writings? Are you studying? Are you reading? Do you know the Scripture? Just asking… I’m asking because, I’m hearing it more and more that Christians are not reading the bible like they used to years ago. I think they’re being told that Jesus is greater than the bible and they really don’t need to know the bible. And possibly, this is why churches are becoming entertainment centers rather that a house of prayer? I don’t know? We’ll see as time goes on!

I will

A declaration by the ‘I AM’…of course that is Almighty God, and who is Jesus Christ? When Jesus says, ‘I will’, it is going to happen! It is an absolute guaranteed event or happening. People can’t always say that, because, well, sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t! It takes a life time I think, to be a man of your word. What you say goes. What you say happens. This is not always the case. Plus, who is ‘I’? Just a thought?

Matthew 26:31

smite the shepherd,

You know, as I was writing this, I was thinking and asking the question, who is going to ‘smite the shepherd’? Is it God? Is it Satan? This will take much more study, because, at first thought, somebody could say, it is Satan. But, the Father is protecting his Son? This is a strange question or point to consider and ask the Holy Spirit about. But, I’m not going to do it now. Okay? I’ll let you do it.

and the sheep of the flock

The sheep are us, folks! I realize that Jesus is talking to his disciples, but there are times after this event that the sheep where effected. This is also a specific flock of sheep. This is the sheep of the Shepherd Jesus Christ! Man, this is heavy stuff here! I feel a bit overwhelmed and contemplative. How do you feel? Let me just keep going here instead!

Matthew 26:31

shall be

Here again is another absolute statement! I mean Jesus is really speaking from his heart and soul. This is serious business that is about to take place. Jesus is not messing around. Nor is Jesus playing and goofing around. Jesus means business and it ‘shall be’!

scattered abroad.

When you scatter something, the stuff you’re scattering goes everywhere in all kinds of directions! I just looked at the wall next to me and I can see that the plasters scattered abroad all the material onto the dry wall before the painters got to it! I know, what are you know talking about now John? Scattered abroad is a picture that you can see in your imagination! When I was SCUBA diving in the South Pacific I swam with schools of beautiful fish. When I suddenly made a motion, the fish scattered everywhere in all different directions. Then like they scattered, the fish all came back together into their school. Every time I did this, they did that! Life as a diver!

Gain great wisdom

Folks this is a powerful verse of Scripture that we can study and gain great wisdom with. Let me put it here and read it one more time…

Matthew 26:31 (KJV) Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

As the word says

When you feel scattered or not sure of what’s happening, simply put your trust in Jesus Christ and he will provide everything you need to make it through… as the word says, John 18:9 (KJV) That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

God bless you my dear friends,

May Jesus hold you in the dark times,

May Jesus be with you always,

My dearest, God is there with you,

Until the end comes…

Good day,

About JOHN CHOQUE.

THANK YOU for your faith. I preach, minister, and build from a perspective of living on the road as a trucker for most of my life, forty years and well over three million miles. The road is a hard lifestyle and thus builds a hard preaching style. Being direct and having a mindset that says, I may never see you again, puts grit into my ministry. People either like it or they don't. Turn onto JESUS! Because, this may be your last chance! We just don't know what's around the next bend in the road... or in our life, is that right? Now, simply call out to JESUS like the Holy Bible says in Acts 2:21 KJB.
